Everyday Eats: Monday, December 1st, 2014

Today the scale moved for the first time since my grandfather died.  Woohoo!  It’s finally going in the right direction!  Predictably, with all of the daily travel out of town to the hospital (where I ate in the cafeteria) and with the funeral and then with my bro’s wedding in Dallas, I’d gained a few pounds.  I actually hadn’t hit my lowest weight yet again when I wooshed last night and shed three pounds, putting me officially a pound lower than my lowest weight.  Yay!

Intermittent fasting as been going well.  I just don’t eat early in the day, which is saving me calories.  If I get really hungry, I’ve been drinking a cup of hot tea with cream, yum.  I am also severely burnt out on eggs, which has helped me skip breakfast a lot here recently.  Hopefully I keep this downward trend going.

Lunch

I have been having a hankerin’ for Arby’s, so with some trepidation today I ordered a bunless sandwich while I was out shopping with Meemaw.  They did quite well, placing it on lettuce in a bowl and even thinking to give me utensils with it.  It was good and filling!  I would have preferred a taco salad – I think that’s my go-to fast food order – but this was pretty decent, and there wasn’t a taco joint on the side of town we were in.  Pretty good!

Met my protein goal today and stayed well below my 30g carb limit, so yay!  Ate pretty low cal too, at just around 1,300.

Tomorrow it’s back to the gym for some heavy lifting.  My glutes and inner thighs are so damn sore right now because I added some more weight last session.  I hope that wears off overnight, or else tomorrow is going to suck!

  1. Kroger CarbMaster milk? May I ask where you live because the Kroger I live near in Bourbonnais only carries the CarbMaster yogurts.

    • I’m in Clarksville, TN. We have two Krogers and both of them carry the milk. It’s located near the lactose-free, soymilk, almond milk, etc in the dairy cooler. I’m sorry you can’t find it in yours because it really is good. I guess maybe it’s carried regionally? I just figured all Krogers would have it, since it is their brand!

      • I’ll have to ask about it when I go next time. All the stores here used to carry Hood’s lc milk but can’t find that anymore. The local health food store owner says low carb was a “fad” and it’s over! Someone needs to tell my pancreas that!

        • I remember that! When I first “tried” Atkins for like a week back in 2004ish, that was a popular brand. As for it being a fad… pfft, your store owner needs to look at that TIME cover touting the miracle of butter and a high fat diet!
