Everyday Eats: Wednesday, February 4th, 2015

Day 4 of the 90 day challenge and I haven’t really felt the urge to eat something carby.  I’m staying lower on my carb count than normal, so that’s good!  I HAVE fought the urge to eat conveniently though – last night there was simply nothing in the house, so I thought to myself, “I’ll just go out for lunch.”  After thinking about it briefly, I decided to go try to scrounge something up.  I need to get myself out of the habit of eating out when it’s inconvenient to fix something.  It costs too much money over time, and is ultimately unhealthier.  So while my lunch today was not the greatest (I didn’t look forward to it), it was perfectly adequate and I was proud of myself for not giving into temptation.

Even though it was half-price barbecue day at Whitt’s.

I’m a damned saint.

Lunch

Four cheese dogs with additional melted cheddar on top, reduced sugar ketchup and mustard (totally forgot to log the condiments... whoops), with strawberry Carbmaster yogurt and pineapple-coconut sparkling water.

Met my protein goal and stayed under my carb and calorie counts.  This was a very good day!

Oh, and I totally ate some of those Old Wisconsin snack sticks during the morning.  I was too hungry to handle IF.  They are very satisfying and they held me over until lunch.

Tomorrow I’ll be trying something new – turkey tenderloin.  I got some at the commissary last time we were there, and I’ll be tossing it in the crockpot with some broth and herbs in the morning.  We’ll see how it turns out tomorrow evening, when CB and I return from lifting at the gym.  I figured the massive amount of protein would be nice after working out.  I’ll let you know on Facebook.

And tonight I made 4 burgers – one for each of us for dinner, and two for my lunches tomorrow and Friday!  So looks like I’m set for the rest of the work week.  Although it’s getting pretty nasty outside… I’m wondering if I’ll even have work tomorrow.  I guess I’ll see :)
