Everyday Eats: Wednesday, October 29th, 2014

Today, I want to wax poetic about a new product I discovered sitting on the shelf in the organic/health food section of Kroger.

Coconut butter.

Not coconut oil, coconut butter.

Have you ever heard of this stuff?  It’s literally a coconutty peanut butter type substance.  Apparently to make it, all you do is put coconut meat in a food processor and let it work magic.

It is sooooooo good.  At least I think so!  I ate a couple of spoonfuls and was in love.  It’s slightly sweet and has that pleasant, natural peanut butter mouthfeel.  Canadian Bacon wasn’t very enthused, and Meemaw didn’t care for it.  Good.  More for me!

Breakfast

CB and I were both surprisingly ravenous this morning, after waking up early and dealing with having our blood drawn. As a result: two pizzadillas and marinara sauce.

Lunch

I should not have eaten this meal.  I was feeling a bit peckish, not hangry.  Lunch out with Meemaw:  6oz pulled pork and 4oz baked beans from Whitts BBQ.

Dinner

Meemaw fixed chili for dinner.  She got really upset when I said I wasn't going to eat any, so I compromised and spread 1/2c over 2 hotdogs and melted cheese on top for pseudo chili cheese dogs.

I ate waaaaay too much today, both in carbs and in calories.  This is a good example of how even eating the “good carbs” that I sometimes sneak into my diet *coughbeanscough* can lead to the dark side.  There were many places I could have cut cals and carbs, but the one that stands out is lunch.  I was not even that hungry – just a little peckish – and I ordered my typical meal when Meemaw and I were out shopping.  I could have cut out 400cal and 19g carbs – that would have put me back into pretty decent levels for the day.  I also should have cut back on the cheese with dinner – I don’t like using those processed slices, since they’re so damn carby, but we were out of our typical Sargento cheddar.  And I probably didn’t need two pizzadillas for breakfast, either.  Blah.

I did workout today, so that’s something –
5×5 squats @ 110lbs
5×5 overhead press @ 60lbs
5×5 close grip bench press @ 65lbs
2×5 deadlift @ 115lbs

The gym was super busy for some reason tonight (like I’ve never seen that many people there before!), so we cut out early and I skipped my rows, pulldowns, and curls.

So at least I hit my protein goal, and I didn’t go too terribly over – but today was not a good day.  Tomorrow shall be better.
