story of my life

Life is Busy

The subject sums it all up.  No, I’m not dead.  Yes, I’m still here.  Yes, I’m still keto.  I’m just really busy.  I’m hoping to be able to take this weekend to write up a couple of posts.  Here’s a few updates as to what’s been going on around here, bullet-style:

  • Finished one project at work and started another before the last one even ended.  Needless to say, it’s hectic.  I work from 8-5 and I leave the house at 6:30am and get back at 6:30pm due to the commute.  I keep reminding myself that we are working towards being totally work-at-home.
  • Underwent the next big portion of the immigration process: Canadian Bacon was fingerprinted and photographed for the eventual green card.  Now we’re just waiting to hear back from USCIS; our lawyer says it takes 2-3 months after the fingerprinting (which was on our 3rd anniversary, April 1st) for his work authorization and travel papers to come in, and then it’s off to Memphis for our interview.
  • Storm was acting blocked again, and we saw traces of blood in his urine.  Bought some wet S/D and put him back on it to dissolve them. Took him to the vet and he was cleared up, just had a few stray crystals.  Whew.
  • Still doing yoga, and bought a fabulous new Jade Harmony hot yoga mat that just came in the mail today.  I’m psyched to try it at practice tomorrow night.
  • Started the Couch to 5K.  The days following the first run were excruciating.  I extensively researched warming-up exercises and the second run went much, much better.  Rudy (the dog formerly known as Bacon) really likes to run with us.
  • I have been losing and gaining the same 5lbs since February, but I can tell that my body is reshaping. I was at my current weight for a really long time before I gained more, so I think this is a “natural plateau” that I just need to break through.
  • I’ve been writing a lot on my See No Evil story, and am nearing the halfway mark.  I think it’ll be around 300 pages when it’s finished.
  • Me and CB will be running in the Color Me Rad (knock-off Color Run) in Nashville in June, along with my yoga instructor and some others from our studio.
  • Playing in a Pathfinder campaign with some guild friends, hosted by my guy bff Abe.
  • CB decided to start his own Pathfinder campaign, and I am helping extensively with the world building for it.  It’s been fun!
  • We celebrated Meemaw & Sugarbandit’s 58th wedding anniversary with a giant bash that my mom and aunts planned.  His sisters flew in and stayed here, so that was an adventure.  My Uncle Hoydt also drove up, and they all had a blast.  My favorite part, not going to lie, is that my cousin Medina and her husband Jackson came down from Louisville and we got to hang out.  Love them!
Meemaw & Sugarbandit and the grandkids, L to R: Kelly, Nick, Sheryl, Jonathan, me, and Aidan. Please note Jonathan’s boobs.

Random musings:

  • We’ve got a lot of traveling to do this year.  I’m a groomsmaid in my bro Chris’s wedding in November, and CB and I will be going out there with the whole Martin clan to party.  CB and I also plan on flying up to Canada sometime after he gets his travel papers but before he starts a job, so he can renew his Ontario license.  We’re (and by that I mean me, CB, my mom, and SB) are going to Georgia (and Florida?) sometime this summer to visit family and so I can go TO A BEACH!  And CB and I are going up to Louisville to stay with Medina and Jackson on Derby weekend.
  • There is not enough time in the day.
  • I haven’t been cooking much lately because I’ve been so busy.  I have thusly perfected several low-maintenance meals, which I need to share here for my keto followers.  These include such wonderful things as crockpot bacon chicken thighs and philly cheesesteakadillas.
  • I am going to go to the Summerlands Tour and see Everclear with my bff Llek again this summer. Eve6 and Soul Asylum are also playing.
  • CB and I are going to help keep the jeep ridin’ by going to a Turquoise Jeep concert in May.  I can’t wait to see my boys Slick Mahony and Pretty Raheem.
  • I don’t remember what 8 hours of sleep feels like.
  • Speaking of 8 hours of sleep, if I go to bed now I can get 7.5.  GOODNIGHT!
