Starting fresh

Hello, internet!

I was in high school when blogging first became an idea; I was one of the early adopters at www.livejournal.com.  I still have my livejournal and have written exactly 1,112 entries.  It chronicled my life from 16-26, since I pretty much stopped writing in it a little over a year ago.  I’ve decided that I want to get back into daily writing, and blogging is the best and easiest way for me to do that.  So this blog is going to be my grown up, adult blog, wherein I tackle grown up and adult concepts (does that sound serious enough?  Because I’m not sure I can keep a straight face…).

Why the name?  My Sugarbandit (I’ll include that story some other time) has always laughed and told me that my head isn’t screwed on straight, with the implication that I’m a little strange or weird.  I’ll agree with that.  I think life’s a bit more fun that way.

The header image is a picture of Storm, one of my three cats.  Like my Meemaw, I’m pretty well set on the path to becoming a crazy cat lady when I’m older.  I wanted a header image that would represent me, and all three of my cats have aspects of my personality.  Storm’s the more easy going, social, and laid back of the three.  We call him Special K, for Special Kitty, because he’s a little bit crazy.  That seems to mesh well with screwedonstraight!

Like the tagline says, I’m going to be posting a ton of different stuff on here – the obligatory posts about my crazy kitties, my ideas on teaching and education in America, my obsession with gaming/video games/fantasy and how I work those into my life (expect some gamer-centric posts that won’t make sense if you don’t play), interesting foodie stuff, anecdotes from my life and about my amazing, loving family, and the occasional political/moral rant that you’ve got to expect from a flaming liberal who’s living in the south.  Also, as I am recently unemployed, my search to find my place in the world with a job that I like and can see myself doing in the future.

Thanks for stopping by!

I didn’t realize you are unemployed. I’m anxious to hear that story.
